Senate Bill 957 an Act Concerning the Oversight of Health Care in Correctional Institutions by the Department of Public Health had its public hearing on February 22. Thank you to all those who testified in person or sent in written testimony in support of this bill. The bill has since been voted unanimously out of committee. Now is the time to reach out to your legislators and urge them to co-sponsor Senate Bill 957. Regulate DOC Healthcare Connecticut is a diverse coalition comprised of healthcare workers, justice impacted and formerly incarcerated individuals and advocacy organizations.
YWCA Hartford Region supported the passage of Public Act No. 22-133, which required that “Not later than January 1, 2023, the commissioner shall develop a plan for the provision of health care services.” This legislative session, Regulate DOC (department of corrections) Healthcare CT Coalition is working to ensure better health outcomes for incarcerated individuals and returning citizens and improve work conditions for DOC Healthcare workers.
