The YWCA of the Hartford Region is a not for profit membership organization and part of the world's largest and oldest multi-racial women's movement. The Association was founded in 1867 by those who saw a need to assist and empower women and girls of diverse backgrounds by providing them with the tools to take control of their own lives.

The YWCA of the Hartford Region offers challenging careers that come with the satisfaction of knowing your work makes a difference in another person's life each day. Programs and services like affordable childcare , an innovative supportive housing facility and a women's financial literacy program help us achieve our mission of empowering women and girls and eliminating racism.

We believe that the success of the YWCA depends on the talent and dedication of its employees. The YWCA of the Hartford Region currently has childcare sites throughout Greater Hartford as well as a camp in Somers and administrative offices in Hartford. The YWCA employs approximately 200 employees during the year in full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.

We strive to pay employees equitably, competitively and in accordance with the values of empowerment and development. Supporting this goal is a compensation program of salary and benefits designed to attract, retain and reward employees. Part-time employees are eligible for some benefits.

Full-time benefits include:

  • Health Insurance - A group medical plan and group dental plan offers comprehensive coverage to eligible employees and their eligible dependents.

  • Long-term Disability - Eligible employees receive company-paid long-term disability insurance.

  • Short-term Disability - All eligible employees may elect short-term disability to cover the employee for 12 weeks, if disabled. This is an employee-paid option.

  • Life Insurance - A company-paid group life insurance plan is available to eligible employees. Employees may purchase additional life insurance for themselves and their eligible dependents.

  • Time Off From Work - Eligible employees receive eight paid holidays per year, paid vacation and personal time, as well as paid sick time.

  • Retirement Plan - All eligible employees are enrolled in a non-contributory pension plan.

  • Program Discounts - Employees receive discounts on programs offered at the YWCA, including childcare and camp.
