Please take the time to review these tips and guidelines to make sure your campers get the most out of their summer days:
- Make sure your kids arrive dressed to play. Campers will get dirty
-- it's part of the fun! They should wear sneakers or sandals with a
back strap. Those wearing sandals should also bring sneakers for
activities that require closed-toe shoes. For health and safety
reasons, flip-flops are not allowed.
- Label all items with your child's name to avoid lost items.
- Don't forget to pack a bathing suit and towel. Water activities are a part of many Camp Aya-Po days.
- Camp is held rain or shine. In case of rain -- or ominous rain
clouds -- give your child the appropriate gear, including a raincoat,
boots and sweatshirt, as well as a change of clothes.
- Pack a nutritious lunch (with a beverage) and snack each day.
Please do not include items that require heating or other preparation.
Campers can also purchase reasonably priced snacks and drinks at The
Camp Store, open during snack time only.
- We encourage campers to bring a refillable water bottle each
day. The sun's strong rays quickly dehydrate campers, especially when
they're engaged in physical activity.
- Leave the electronics and toys at home. These detract from the
scheduled activities and prevent your child from learning the
cooperation and teamwork we strive to promote.
- Be honest about any special learning or behavioral challenges
your child might have, and inform the staff of his or her needs. Camp
Aya-Po has the resources to ensure your child has a fun, fulfilling
camp experience.
