Committed to creating opportunities one woman and child at a time, the YWCA Hartford Region has an impact on the lives of approximately 2,300 individuals through its programs and services each year.
We strive to offer programs that address the needs of community members of all backgrounds and at every stage of life, from racial justice and family safety to childcare and economic empowerment.
Our early learning centers, school-age childcare, and child abuse prevention (TOP) help children learn and develop to be the best that they can be and provide valuable resources for families.
Our supportive housing and emergency shelter for women helps chronically homeless and those at risk of homelessness get their lives back on track by providing housing and support services.
Additionally, our Young Women's Leadership Corps (YWLC) equips young people with the skills necessary for healthy development and a promising future. YWLC girls in grades 6 through 12 get the skills to face the challenges that come with adolescence and living in an urban community. YWLC teaches them to persevere -- both personally and academically.
Stand Against Racism is a movement initiated by the YWCA in 2008 to raise awareness that racism still exists in our communities and that it cannot be ignored or tolerated. Our objective is to bring organizations together, who believe as we do, that united we can eliminate racism.
We take pleasure and pride in continually developing new programs and services that empower women and girls and help eliminate racism. We hope you get as much satisfaction in discovering how the YWCA Hartford Region can improve and enhance your life.
